Female Factory
gets artistic feel
This story is
about Michael Chin and more than 50 volunteers have given the Parramatta Female
Factory Precinct a makeover.
One of
Parramatta’s historic sites, the Female Factory Precinct, from Sydney’s convict
past, was given a makeover recently.
The project back
support for the Parramatta Female Factory Precinct and the Roman Catholic
Orphan School in Fleet Street to be put on the National Heritage List and
promote it as Australia’s first internationally recognized Site of Conscience.
The makeover was to create a community space for families and
friends to meet and enjoy the surroundings and history.
During This period
they uncovered an old sand pit with toys still intact and they also uncovered an old garden shed with chalk writing on the
walls.
The
Writing is on the Wall exhibition opens this Saturday at the Parramatta Female Factory Precinct at 12.30pm and includes creative works from the
Memory Project.
